New Member w/ 70 Skylark Convertible project
Hey all, new member here from MD. I'm building a '70 skylark convertible that'll be running a 355 sbc backed by a t56 trans.

Welcome! Have any pictures to post? Sounds like a very cool project.

Here is a pic of when I first brought it home. Car has been sitting since 1978 when it was parked b/c of a blown head gasket in the Buick 350. All original sheetmetal and as solid as the day it rolled off the assembly line. Prior owner began a frame off and then lost interest.

I originally had a th350 but just sold it and got a t56 so the engine is currently back out and on the stand. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...e/DSC02165.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...e/DSC02158.jpg Sump installed http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...e/101_0257.jpg OE serpentine brackets http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...e/101_0260.jpg |
:thumbsup:Very nice! Thats an amazing find there, no rust and stored forever. I wish I could come accross something like that. And how many Skylark converts do you see running around? Not many, and I bet there are no other 1970 models with the pro touring treatment. Very cool ride for sure!
Eric  |
I just happened to notice the helmets and other riding gear in the background of the car pictures, I also ride (kinda tough here in Washington right now with all the rain) . Hot rods, motorcycles and just a few other essentials for a good weekend!

Thanks man! I plan to add a GSX wing and a Stage II hood scoop with 17" magnum 500 wheels to give it that retro-mod look. It should be pretty unique.
Yeah, I've been riding for about 12 years although I sold my most recent bike (TL1000R) this past fall b/c we were having a baby and I figured I'd had enough sport bikes for a while. Got a '72 CB350 in the shed that's going to be a bobber project whenever I find the time! |
Nice! It's about time we get some Buick A-bodies around here! Love those cars, keep us posted on progress.
