New guy here, 82 T/A
Hey all, been a lurker for some time admiring all of your projects. I dont have nearly the budget or Fab skills of many of you, but I am inspired.
I Purchased a "recaro" 1982 Trans Am from the original owner last winter (2007). It was used hard and put away wet. Had seen life on the track and as many engines/trans combos as it is old. I gutted it 100% and attached are a few pics of the progress I made over the last few seasons. I will try and paste them in order of progress: The week I brought her home: http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...minick/174.jpg had a tired 350 in her, just before had a 406? with about a 250 shot of NOS, the guy was nuts blew shiet up all the time http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...minick/173.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ebirdblack.jpg |
and as I tore it down I took as many photos as I could remember to.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...minick/008.jpg had a cell in it: http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ellcropped.jpg heres the exhaust he had: was running full length hookers to 2.5 duals ending in these http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...headers001.jpg last pic b4 teardown: http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1.../PICT02831.jpg |

engine, trans, rear end and suspension were all next: the block that came in the car turn out to be an original bore 350 4 bolt block so that was cleaned and checked, then bored and clearenced for a stroker crank from eagle, Keith Black Forged pistons, Eagle SIR rods, and everything else that could be replaced was. (Thanks to Hitech motorsports for the machining)
Engine parts are in and re-assembly begins: http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...stroker004.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...stroker006.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...stroker008.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...stroker010.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...stroker012.jpg |

assembled:
Off to the dyno now for break in and carb tuning http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ff/dyno005.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ff/dyno004.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ff/dyno003.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ff/dyno002.jpg http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ff/dyno001.jpg btw made 452 hp on the dyno, considering a different intake head combo to see if I can get closer to that 500hp mark, but it'll stay as-is until its done, and will get a revamp over winter 2009 |
