New poster old lurker from Alabama with 69 Malibu
1 Attachment(s)
Well here is starting point. Great grandmother bought car new in Dallas, TX. Sat for several years then driven to Alabama when I got it (interesting story but long). Original Le Mans Blue/parchment int and vinyl top 307/pglide w/ac. Now has original 307 with 700r4 front drums changed to disc. Original plan was high reving 327 small journal/4spd with basic cosmetic restore. Then moved to big block with auto. Now leaning towards LS/6spd. and pro-touring style build.
I like the thought of a flat metallic blue almost like 25 yr old repaint on car now. Lose vinyl top and all trim for top and lower trim. Have all remaining chrome re chromed in "black chrome" Any Ideas or suggestions appreciated. |
Welcome to the site!
Should be a cool project. I would the pro-touring route. Do the LS engine, which will give you gobs of horsepower, good drive ability and good gas mileage. (You can do a search on this site for Chevelles and get some great ideas that others have done.) I personally love the LeMans blue color. Good luck & keep us posted. :lateral: |
if it were me, i would do the suspension first, the body, the interior and then decice what engine i could afford.. that car would rock with just an LS based 6.0 with L92 heads + cam and a and carb intake... or a GTO takeout LS2 with tranny
My suggestion would be to give SC&C a call, he can set you up with a great suspension for relatively small money, throw on some nice wheels and nice paint... and use the hell out of it :-) oh yeah, post pics as you go along |
