pro charger/ daily driver?
 

Just wanted to pick everyone's brains on what you think of a 2006 GTO with a Pro-charger as a daily driver. I don't know a lot about them (pro-chargers) and want to make sure it's not gonna be a big headache to drive every day. The other problem is that this car is at a dealer and I can't talk to the original owner to see who did the work and what all was done. It appears as if it is stock with just the pro-charger and exhaust. The car only has 7000 miles and is in perfect condition. Thoughts??

I would think a screw type blower would be more reliable... like a magnacharger or a whipple or something maybe?

if your not pushing a ton of boost to the thing it should be fine i would thin k

if a dealer is selling it to you ask them if they are going to warranty the car with that on it.

Well with 7000 miles on it does it have the original tires. If the tires are original and in good shape I would say it was owned by a responsible driver, and not some guy like me. If the tires are bald or not OEM and bald then run. You might also ask to look at the brakes if they are brand new then you know they were below 70%. And 70% wear in 7000 miles is alot.

I think the Procharger is not your worry for relability, it is the Engine and how much boost your putting to it. If it is a big pulley then you probably doing OK. the more boost the shorter it will live.

We run them on a few cars (daily drivers) with no problems. One of them with over 100k miles ... 60k+ with the supercharger on it.

It won't be a problem to run it with a Procharger. The big question is reliability for a daily driver. I have been a Procharger dealer for several years and I am yet to see one that was installed on a daily D be unreliable. As far as long term like others mentioned it depends on the PSI. The more boost the more potential for long term wear and problems.

Thanks guys. They said it's running 5 psi, so it should live with that. As far as the warranty goes, I work at a dealer and can get things covered as long as they can't blame the problem on the charger. Electrical, suspension parts, A/C, trim parts, etc. shouldn't be a problem. Drivetrain....not so much, oh well, the price you pay I guess. Not sure what I'm doing yet, just considering it...Thanks again for the input.:thumbsup:
