You need to know this..........
Google:
Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009. Trying to slide one under the radar. |
Yeah, I have written to the entire CA delegation about this. Most didn't bother to even send an auto reply. Boxer & Pelosi both essentially told me to get lost and that they were supporting it. Feinstein (who once had a concealed carry permit in San Francisco....one of 5 people at the time) said she would support it.
You guys have GOT to do what you can to shoot this down with your delegation. CA is in the tank for it. |
OpenCongress Summary:
The Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act would establish a nationwide system for prohibiting unlicensed gun-ownership. If approved, the law would require gun owners to apply for five-year licenses to own firearms, and would give the U.S. Attorney General broad authority over the program. There are no co-sponsors to the bill, and there is very little chance it will be adopted. My permits have to be renewed every 3 years in New York City. whats the big deal? Am I missing something? |
i didn't read the whole thing but that is kinda what it's like here in Canada, you need permits to move your gun,and to buy a gun there is a back ground check, and blah blah blah......... you cant carry a gun arround, Legally any way.
and you know what????? not as many people get shot. what a concept only the drug dealers have guns and they only seem to shoot eachother, most of the time, and i'm ok with that my .02:cheers: different culture i guess |

Thanks for the link to the former thread...

It has zero cosponsors. I don't think it will go too far.

In Wa. we have 5 year CCW permits. (concealed carry permit)
So we have to renew anyway. AND go through the background check for each firearm purchase. A long time ago, if you had a permit you could just walk in, show the permit and buy any gun and walk out. Now they look alot deeper before approving a purchase. It is the same for all legal firearms here, shotgun, rifle, pistol. But do any of you know ANY criminal that even tries to buy a weapon that way? So it really only lets our gov't keep tabs on the law abiding good guys and gals that choose to have a firearm for any legal reason. The bad guys and gals are not on the radar so to speak. They buy them from unknown sources with no record and grind off the serial numbers, use them in a crime and throw it away or re sell it to another criminal. Hey, It sounds like a great plan to me!! |
