Nitto NT-01 question
Has anyone used these tyres ? how did they go and has anyone got any pics of them on there cars ?
trying to choose between these NT01 and the 555's ? Gav |
I'm not sure how much this reply will help, but at the Del Mar car show I was talking with one of the major vendors who does a fair amount of racing/testing with a few test cars that they have and one of the guys that races the cars talked to me a little bit about those NT-01s. He said that they were given the NTs to try out during some sort of event and they said that they we weren't overly impressed with them and didn't notice much difference between the NT-01s and the 555s. He said that his team got slightly better results from the BFG KDW's than either of the Nittos. Now this is just one guy mentioning this who works for the vendor, so this is just his own personal opinion and may not be factual or representative of how that vendor feels as a whole. Since nobody had replied to your question yet, I thought I'd at least pass this second-hand information. I have nothing against Nitto. I run the 555's on my car and I like them. Hopefully somebody with firsthand experience will reply to your question because I'm interested in the NT-01s also.

Thanx Chris , id would be happy withe BFs but they dont do the ones i want in a 275/40/18. My car is really just a streeter with a pro touring theme , if im honest with myself its more cosmetic .I think a lot of us are guilty of this.

I used a set of stock sized NT-01's on my 99 SS for track duty. They lasted about 10 track days but I push the car hard. I LOVE these tires...Not sure I'd use them for street duty but they're nice on track. For a street car stick to the 555 series I think. NT-01 is an aggressive R comp that doesn't last long. The 555R2's I had lasted a long time compared, grip was less but it's give and take.
