If it was your car ( paint ?'s)

I was wondering guys if it was your car and you where/might be put on a tight crunch time would you paint all the door jams, trunk jam and inside, fire wall/engine area and then put the car whole car together talking wiring, complete dash etc then have painted? The car is coming back from media blasting shortly, then doing body work and going to install the sound deading/undercoating (thinking second skin). So tell me how you might go about painting etc please. I will put up a post on what I will be calling Operation Alter Run - you know what this means :unibrow: (name for car will come later), post pics, parts list etc to get you all up to date on the car. Thanks again guys for all the help you have given to me and many others on here

We know a bit about deadlines. That deadline is way more important to you then it is to the body shop. If I were under a crunch I would get it painted now, make the body shop be done and out, and carry all the responsibility for making the deadline myself. I hate counting on someone else. In the last quarter of the game, I want the ball personally!

I am just worried about fitting and scratching things after it is paint. I can pull a few friends to get it done I think just comes with personal pressure of life etc. If all else fells I can sweet talk you in to saving me  since you live the crunch time Frank :D

I am painting my doors and all jams and everything that is going to be body color first, I am just finishing the underside and firewall which will be satin black, once everything is painted (satin black) and jammed. I am going to install the motor trans and wiring and other things before I paint the body.the only reason I am doing this this way is to limit the amount dings and scratchs that come from things outside of my control, like friends helping and out sourcing of items I cant do myself. Then any damage will be taken care of prior to painting and will save a lot of time if anything happens. Dale

there are few ways you can go about to finish it,

1, fit all the bolt-on parts,do all the bodywork, drill small guide holes at mounting holes on each panel, that way there will be no guessing during assembly, paint the engine bay if you have to get it running before paint, mask off the engine bay and paint the shell and all bolt-on parts off the car ,then assemble the car after wetsand and buff.

2,This is the way it should be done,if you want a best quality job, fit all the bolt-on parts,do all the bodywork, drill small guide holes at mounting holes on each panel, that way there will be no guessing during assembly, paint the shell and all bolt-on parts off the car ,then assemble the car after wetsand and buff.

3, fit all the bolt-on parts,do all the bodywork, paint the whole car, wetsand and buff, drop motor, interior and glass

Don't paint jambs first and paint the car later, alot of people may not agree with me as this may offend them, but that is not the right way to do a show car, atleast not to my standards, but if you like tape lines in jambs ,some dry areas around the edges and overspray, then it's all good:woot:
