Firewall clean up on Buick Regal/G-Body

Hey Guys,

It seems that I'm at a crossroads with my car, I am either going to sell it or take it the next step.

Right now it is an extremely solid driver and I am trying to decide if I want to up the ante. Which brings me here, I would like fellow g-body owners who have eliminated the factory air conditioning box and cleaned up their firewall to chime in with photos and how to's.

I am strongly leaning towards doing this type of upgrade as I have so much tied up in the car. I would have a hard time taking a loss on it.

Anyway, firewall suggestions please.

I am in the same boat with my 87 elky. My a/c works fine and blows ice cold so it's hard for me to just snatch it out and block it off, especially in this AZ heat. A few friends of mine removed the A/C from there 87 SS Monte Carlos to clean up the engine bay and it looks great. They plan on running an aftermarket A/C system in the near future.

There are a few aftermarket companies that sell the block off plate as well as the cowl that continues to the pass. fender. For more info or comments/suggestions i'd check with the guys over at maliburacing.com or gbodyforum.com

I deleted my heater and a/c on my 78 el camino. I will tell you it's not fun to pull the a/c box out. I'll try and get some decent pic's tomorrow and post them. I also have a ton of room now.

Thanks for your response guys. I already have disconnected the A/C. I really want to achieve a clean firwewall. I will consider using an aftermarket A/C system down the road.

I just can't bring myself to sell it. I also can't see making any major progress on the car in the next couple of years.
