First 69 camaro
 

Hello ever1 in only 16 and i was interested in getting a long time dream of a 69' camaro. Are there any thoughts that any1 have for a youngster starting out like me?

Save your money and find something that at least has a clean shell to save

Your going to need about 10k to get your hands on a "decent" 69 camaro.The hard part is these car's are over 35 year old and most have hidden problems.

Well my advise would be to just read all the information you can on the forum here and ask questions. I think it is always a good idea to learn as much as you can before diving in and buying a car even. I was about your age when I started getting into the pro-touring movement! Have you found a project car yet?
Also, when you type...type the full word! "everyone" "ever1" makes it a bit confusing.

look at a lot of different cars to get a feel for whats out there and the market on a perticular model...take a friend with you that has experiance with classic cars and will be honest about the TRUE condition of the car...you will have blinders on during your excitement and dreaming! :yes:

It would be best to get a driver, hopefully with good paint and body, and slowly do bolt-on upgrades as funds allow...this is a good way to enjoy the car as you build and truely notice how much the new parts improve things. If you buy a roller or shell of a car it will probably be years before you get to drive it...I'm about to hit year four myself and can't wait for that first drive! Actually, I'm a bit depressed as I type this as I know how much more work has to be done before that day comes. Moral of the story, get a driver, stock pile parts, and then do a quick rebuild of systems and get it back on the road as fast as possible.

Take it from me. Iv had my 68 since i was 15 and am now 17. Make sure you have a good body to start with. I spent over 10k in parts/labor in body work including paint.

I am 19 and have had my car for three years.

-Buy a car with a good body and decent paint so your car won't sit in a paint shop for a long time.
-Make the car safe to drive before making it faster or look cooler. Remember the cars on the road today can stop and steer alot faster than older cars.
-Tackle the project in phases. I mean collect a bunch of parts and install them all at once.
-Don't get stuck on a Camaro. I had a chance to buy a 68 but kept a open mind. One day we found a 69 Nova and I fell in love with the car.
-When talking with people about car remember you have two ears and one mouth, so god meant for you two listen twice as much as you talk.
-These cars stick out much easier in todays traffic so don't drive stupid. cops love to write tickets to young kids in muscle cars. If you want to showoff go to a track and get a timeslip.
