trunk mounted battery question
for those of you who have a trunk mounted battery, are you running a master disconnect switch? if so, where is it mounted?
I'm considering ditching my passenger side reverse light and just mounting it on the tail light because I don't particularly want to cut a hole in the back of the car... any other ideas? |
batt switch
It's entirely possible to mount it on a tab inside the trunk. This won't be NHRA legal & you might want to check with any racing bodies you plan to run in, but a switch/solenoid in the trunk is an easy deal. Just make sure it's properly rated for your electrical load requirements.

There are kits available that mount the switch itself in the truck. They have an attachment rod that can then go out to the outside so it is legal. Instead of the switch being "turned" off, it becomes a push/pull type setup.
I was planning on drilling a hole in the taillight housing and lens the size of the rod(3/8" I think) and using one of those extensions. Since this is just the rod going through the housing it might be possible to keep the lights functioning. This setup is fairly common. John |
