another good reason to use DEI hose covering

with the twin turbo heat management and protection is crucial. I use the DEI hose covering for many of my hoses and electrical lines for the heat protection, and because it comes in black which looks good.

Today went for a short spin, getting ready for Hot August Nights in Reno. When I came back I could smell gas, and saw gasoline pouring out under the car. My main #8 feed line to the fuel rails had split and was leaking gas badly , due to 45 psi used in efi. Because I had that line covered in DEI heat barrier wrap it made the gas follow the covering down under the car and exit at the frame where the covering stopped. If I would not have wrapped that line it would have been spraying on the turbo downpipe, and I cannot imagine anything less than a major fire resulting.

I got lucky, but figured I would at least share a side benefit to an aftermarket item that I had not considered.

WOW!! Glad everything turned out ok. I'll keep that in mind when I get to plumbing mine.

And buy a fire extinguisher today. Unless you would rather have the insurance money.

aw man that is awful!
What brand line were you using? I remember a thread either here or on PT.com about the braided lines being garbage and that the swell and get soft over time and eventually split. You might have brought this subject back to life.
Glad you're ok and the car also!
