I ripped my repro steering wheel apart today while parking

So I was parallel parking today and managed to rip the plastic ring off two of the three metal supports on my Rick's First Gen Repro Rosewood Camaro Steering wheel. It is one of these:

Needless to say I don't feel comfortable with this steering wheel any more. Any amount of flex or pulling and it now pulls off the metal supports. I drove home very carefully. I'm installing power steering from Lee Engineering this week so that should help, but this thing is down right unsafe.

What steering wheels are you guys running? Looks like I am in the market. I have Recaro Speed S seats but an otherwise stock interior so I'd like to keep it simple.

an original off ebay maybe? I have a repro "comfort grip" and the stainless ring around it kinda wants to come off... nothing like the originals i guess:rolleyes:

I would tell them about the problem and ask for a refund.

I run that same wheel w/o power steering...no issues.
Take Charlie's advice and get a refund...obviously yours was defective.

If anyone is interested I have my original rosewood, not sure what its worth, and it does have a couple small cracks. I have a horn button, not sure if it is correct, but it is oldskool.

I've got a black anondized Grant 3-spoke with leather wrap. Very simple, but comfortable.

No kidding! Dropped off the car at Lee Manufacturing for a quick ratio power steering setup, reservoir and cooler today so that should make a huge difference.

I'm liking the Momo Retro

It's a great excuse for a high end billet wheel... get shopping!!

Does Ricks have any other wheels? They have great customer service I'm sure you could up grade.... with your faulty one as a trade in.

I think that matches the look of your original very well, and MOMO is certainly known for their wheels in racing circles, so should be a good, quality wheel.
