1968 nova 18x8.5 front wheel offset
looking for advice on front wheel back spacing for a 68 nova with drop spindles. The wheels will be 18x8.5 ccw
|
With drop spindles you will be limited on backspacing to around 4"-4.5" and this will push that 8.5" wheel right out into the fender lip. Lose the drop spindles or use a narrower wheel.

are the clearance issues with the steering arms if so these are not cast into the spindle so i can build new ones to work around it while i am mounting the front steer rack

What brakes are you running? Track width tends to vary somewhat depending on whether it's factory disc, drums or aftermarket options. We have fit the equivalent of 5.06" backspacing on a 18x8.5 with a 245/40-18 and 2" drop spring. Even with aggressive static alignment settings, it rubs a little at full lock at the steering box and gets very close to the fender lips.

the brakes are already mounted on custom made hubs to keep the track the same they are 14" 6 piston zo6 brakes that's why i have to use the 18" high clearance wheels

You can use the dimensions I posted before knowing that our brake kits are .200" wider than the factory drum setup and .240" narrower than the factory disc setup. Then you just need to allow for whatever offset your current setup has and adjust accordingly. Tobin KORE3 |
