What headers work well with the speedtech frame?
I am pretty shure I am going to use the speedtech front frame on my 69'(so far the cheapest bolt in to take a 10' front rim) ,But was wondering what headers fit well with that frame? As far as what engine I will be running it will be a ls or bbc with ac and power steering. Also does anyone know if it makes a differance what tubular arms you run with the speedtech frame to clear the big rims? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Speed Tech worked with Stainless Works and have a set that fit their frame.

Bite the bullet. You'll spend more time buying, trying and returning....

Trying to learn from our mistakes :)
I am shure someone has tried some or are running other brands,I am not in a big hurry so hopefully I can see what has worked for other people, thanks.(if I have to bite the bullet I will,But right now thats a big one)

We tried many different off the shelf headers. and decided to work with Stainless works to design the best fitting header , they are designed to eliminate the 3rd joint in the steering shaft, which dramatically improves the steering feel. you can use off the shelf headers and the 3 joint shaft but you may still have to cut one of the tubes and reweld in a piece, so make sure you dont buy coated ones.
this is the reason we built the headers in the first place, i think if you do the math on the labour to install the 3 joint shaft, buy and modify the header and then coat them, our stainless headers headers are not out of line and you get way better ground clearance as the tubes don't hang below the frame. |
