1969 Camaro Streetfighter - Golden Coffin

I figured it was time to finally make a build thread for my car to keep all the posts in one area...

The car was recently named "Golden Coffin" by a friend and is quite fitting. My family thinks the car will be the death of me. I recently raced the car at buttonwillow and came home with a broken steering wheel, and 3 cracked rotors

I track the car a lot and every time I go out I come home with a list of issues I need to address.

List of things of things I'd like to improve:

Quick Ratio Power steering
Wilwood Manual Brakes
TKO600 or T-56 swap
Roll Cage
Gauges/dash setup
Rear Suspension Setup - Gbar? 3Link?
Remove rear seat setup and fabricate panel
Fire System
Stereo/GPS setup for Rally Events
Oil Cooler/breather/Accusump
Engine Upgrades - Heads/Cam/Intake, looking for 600rwhp Naturally Aspirated
Paint/Body possible Vinyl Wrap.

This is why you don't track your camaro with a stock steering wheel and no power steering. This happened on the streets luckily and while pulling my car into Lee Manufacturing for Power steering. Good timing Golden Coffin

My Hooker Super comps don't fit worth a DAMN with the new Lee Power steering box. I am running the BBC frame stands and BBC moroso mounts. The headers also have minimal ground clearance which is an issue when you slide off the track and come back on.

It happens. :_paranoid

I ordered a set of Dougs D320 Headers because they said they fit my application. No such luck, The doug's were just as bad as the Hooker Super Comps and would require serious massaging and dimpling to get them to fit.

I am having a local shop build me a custom set of headers instead.

After 2 sets of headers and ton's of research, I'm done messing around with headers that were designed on a different car. There are simply too many Variables. I'd rather just have a custom set made on my car for my car.

Its cheaper than Lemon's Headers. Only issue is, they won't be coated. I can always have them coated later or header wrap I suppose.

I have a 502 in my 68 convertible. I am running a Concept One quick ratio steering box and the Stainless Works headers bolted right in and do not hang below my stock subframe. About $800 a set I believe. Cheaper than custom ones......

I love it man. How is the crank case vented? I don't see any filters or pcv valves? Your oil pan also looks pretty low. Keep up the good work and blowing your retirment.

Old photo. PCV and a K&N filter on it now. Its the stock ZZ Oil pan and yeah it hangs just below the crossmember. Thats one of the benefits the headers provided, oil pan protection. I've had issues in the Past. My old 396, this happened on the way home to my house. Still had oil pressure pulling into the garage, was losing it quickly.

The previous owner had an "interesting" suspension setup. The oil pan was setup as the bump stop.
