Monster clutches
Has anyone here had any experience with Monster clutches? I'm looking to get one of their Level 3 kits which is good to 700hp. The level 2 is only 525 so I thought would be better off going a little higher in case I decide to do anything else with the power. Thanks.

Be careful with a "puck" style clutch especially one of the cermetallic materials, they DONT slip. You use the stock release bearing so the hardest part is getting it bleed. 10psi of pressure usually gets all the air out.

What about the 3.5? It's a dual friction clutch. I just want to get something that will handle any upgrades I decide to make to the motor.

My experience is once you start trying to make power over 500whp your going to want a multi-plate clutch. Single disks to hold the same power need a stronger pressure plate and more aggressive material. I've welded 3 different single disk puck style clutch disks to the pressure plate and flywheel. Plus driveablity is in the toilet, these single disks grab right now. They have to in order to hold power in upper rpms. How high in "upgrades" are you going to go? 700, 800, 900, 1000whp? |
