Kool Deadwood Nights Show
Anyone gone to this show? I'm interested in doing this one next August. It's a long tow :drive: for us out here on the "best" coast so would appreciate any info anyone could shed light or share...
Somebody told us to stay in Sturgis... |
I've never been there for that event, but I've been thinking about it for quite some time. I think it would be great. Maybe something to consider for '10? Maybe see you there, Greg?

Yeah -- We're in!!
My Sister and Brother in Law will be bringing their Blown 69 Camaro -- I'll bring "something" - and my friends will bring their '33 or her Great 8 Riddler '32... it's pretty cool with no springs or leafs in the suspension - it's all torsion bar front and rear. Think we're going to stay in Sturgis. Some other friends that go their said that's what they do. They have a nice 406 ci '69 Camaro. It's only about 1100 miles from here - and in a nice part of the country where there is something for the "girls" to do other than car stuff. |
Black hills South Dakota is heaven on earth. In the Summer I should say. I would pay good money to drive my car around those parts. Kelli and I go up almost every year since most of her family lives in the black hills. I need to buy a car trailer!

Last time I was in that area - my 22 year old son was 10... and we drove my big block 67 Vette to Bloomington via Lake Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - West Yellowstone - Jackson Hole (nothing better than the sun coming up and the Tetons turn purple and the side pipes burbling away - top down!) - up to Mt Rushmore - and on over to Illinois for the 'big show'.... That is some of the best memories we both still share. Just for a "tease" this was the ride on that trip. PS - 400hp tri power - speedminder - side exhaust - Leather - A/C - P/W - drop top -- and I DROVE IT ALL THE WAY... http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...dCamaro026.jpg |
Cool stuff, Greg. It's about 600 miles from me.
Better start looking for a trailer, Todd. Found the 2010 dates: August 26 – 29, 2010 - Kool Deadwood Nites |
I think my sister said AUGUST 26 - 28th, 2010
Our friends that are in Sheridan, Wyo said they stay in Sturgis @ Days Inn the number is 605-347-3027 Here's a link to THIS years info on the show -- this website also has hotels and other info linked to it. http://www.deadwood.org/DeadwoodEven...DeadwoodNites/ We're going for sure... after doing the Rod Run to Yellowstone this year (did this instead of Hot August Nights). As a "group" we decided just to try different shows instead of HAN anymore. I miss talking to Charley down there (HAN) - but he'll get over it! The "shows" aren't important - they're just a date and a place to have to be - but it gets us going - and we're trying to pick places of "other interest" and things to do before/during/after the actual show. Yellowstone was kinda 'small town hokey' - but the trip over was beautiful... Yellowstone is pretty kool - and we went on down to Jackson Hole afterwards... So it's like building a car - it's all the, what I call it, hunting and gathering... that makes it fun. TODD --- Got that trailer yet?? |
I like the town of Spearfish personally. Deadwood would keep you right in the action with casinos and plenty of lodging. When I leave Las Vegas, casinos are the last thing I want to see. LOL I'll definitely be picking up a trailer soon! I want to make some of the race events in California and AZ anyway.

RE: TRAILER Don't do what I did -- buy a "fancy" trailer.... I wish I'd have bought the QUALITY trailer - and .050 exterior skin - and did NOT get it all blinged out inside - that's a complete waste. What you need is some storage up front - tools etc - and just general "stuff" that once you have a trailer - you'd like to have along.... and LOTS OF TIE DOWNS - E track... Mine has the diamond plate floor and fancy white walls ..... I don't live in there - nobody sees it - I load the car and "stuff" and close the doors - open the doors - back out - lock it up.... plain jane interior would have been just fine -- except for the "oh wow" I get, when someone hasn't seen it before. Big Whoop. The exterior quartz lights - never used once... Get the BIG side exit door.... I drive my stuff on and off -- I raised the floor with a couple of moveable ramps -- and open the door (using this big side opening door) and get in and out of the car... if not - you're going to climb out the window - or winch it in and out. I use the trailer like a "garage" when I'm on the road - go to a show etc - back her off - at night I drive her right back in and lock the door. If I didn't live in the Pacific NorthWET -- I might have gone with an open trailer with some storage locker / shield up front. A tilt bed most likely. I do use the trailer for some "storage" in the winters here - if I have a big project in the shed - I might store the Nomad in there. Right now - I have the new frame for the 37 Ford in there since I don't work on my stuff in the summer... it's out of the way - and easy to get in and out (using the winch) if I need to haul a real car somewhere. If I was a big deep pocket kinda guy -- I'd have gone with a gooseneck 44' er with living quarters up front... especially for multiple day (weekend) races and stuff -- would be real nice to just pull up -- unload - crank on the A/C and make a pot of coffee like the big boys do... also not "having" to get a motel room on trips would be nice. I'd love to just pull into some truck stop or rest area and call it a night... no fuss/no hassle. Alas - the one I want is about 90K and it's just hard to justify that for the two times a year I really use it... Just my .03's worth BIG SIDE DOOR -- VERY HANDY!! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...regWeld009.jpg FANCY INSIDES -- USELESS! http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...nterior002.jpg |
Beautiful looking cars Greg!!!
