Just installed Musclerodz new ps and radiator reservoirs
Thanks to Mike for sending me a pair off his first batch of black anodized ps and radiator overflow reservoirs. I have hydroboost on my car and the integral reservoir didn't have enough volume to work well; to get enough fluid in the reservoir to stop groaning it would puke some out of the cap when hot. I then went to a remote reservoir AFCO can, but with the two bypass lines feeding into it the fluid would bounce off the cap at any level and leak from the gasket.
Mike has a new reservoir that could be used on any ps unit that uses a remote reservoir, but is ideal for hydroboost setups too. It already has two return lines that are fully baffled inside the unit so the retuning oil stays under the fluid level, reducing foaming, and doesn't splash up against the cap. He offers a matching black anodized radiator overflow, so I figured I'd get a matching set. Install was very easy, even though I'm really limited on room with the twin turbo setup and all the extra plumbing. The black anodized version (he also offers standard aluminum) is very subtle and basically disappears in my engine compartment, which is exactly what I wanted. These are pre-production models and he may be tweaking the final version, but these looked and worked great for me. Here's a couple pics of the units along with the billet clamps he supplies for mounting. Wow very nice piece. And nice write-up Jody.

Jody - do you run a #8 line to the feed side(low pressure) of the power steering pump. Does most of the type2 and 3 PS pumps pull fluid from a distance with out problems. I mean can you mount these resivoirs on the radiator core support and run a couple feet of hose?
On my stock corvette accessory system the stock resivoir is just bove the pump and the feed hose is pretty big in diameter, this made me curious about how well the pump pulls from the resivoir. I would really like to get rid of the little plastic tank, would I be able to use these as well, I too will be running hyrdoboost? Your thoughts, BTW they look real nice- Thanks Rich |
Looks really nice! Great work Mike!! This should make for a very complete and great working system!

I'm going to need a set of those myself...
How is venting taken care of-- is there a small baffled hole in the caps somewhere? |
