Exhaust Thoughts
I'm getting ready to build the exhaust system for the truck. What do you guys think of the flex joints that are becoming more common? I was going to install them right after the header collector and then continue back with the exhaust system. Are there any issues with running them?
Also what kind of hangers are preferred? Anybody make those silicon grommets in black instead of blue? On a side note how do you guys think this combo will sound? 415ci LS with long tube headers. 3" exhaust with cross over and Magnaflow mufflers. Any comments are greatly appreciated! |
Anybody???????

I built an all stainless exhaust system for my buddies 55 Post - Art Morrison frame - LS2 motor... and I used the SS flex exhaust - one in each side. The reason I did that was because the exhaust runs thru the frame on the AME piece... and I didn't want to "risk" the chance of it becoming a rattler down the road. The flex pieces isolate the motor vibration and any movement etc. They look good and were nice pieces to use. I TIG welded the entire system and made custom mounts for it. You can see the flex pieces here - and the "tight" fit through the frame - the pic sucks (it's dark) but you'll get the idea. http://i919.photobucket.com/albums/a...austfab015.jpg |
Thanks Greg. I have a very similar application. Although I built the chassis, I have some clearances that are tight and thought these would be helpful. I just wasn't sure about the longevity of them. Speaking of your custom mounts, what did you use for isolators? I have been looking at the blue silicon grommets, but they don't match anything I'm doing. I don't want to sacrifice function, but they will stick out like a sore thumb. Thanks again for the info.

I used the blue ones you hate... LOL The car I'm putting together for my buddy is a "driver"... to those aren't issues for him. They also have red versions. |
