Project: Motor City Madness

I started my intro thread the other day and let me first say that all the guys here are first class. I though I should start a seperate thread for my actual project. I'm calling it "Motor City Madness" because this has gotten a lot deeper than I intended when I purchased the car. I was looking to make a few engine mods, paint and drive. Well lets just say its gone a LOT further. I hope you guys can understand this is my FIRST project of this kind, but hopefully not my last. The am a novice, so my questions will be plentiful:D. Any guys in the Detroit area, feel free to send a shout out. I can use all the help I can get...:unibrow:

Well here is what I started with, '72 Cutlass S with minimal rust. Doors and fenders lined correctly. Engine was bad and little did I know, the trans too. :( Out of all the cars I looked at in the same price range, this was the best of body and frame condition. Not easy to find good sheet metal in Michgan.

Hope I started this thread in the right area...:_paranoid Here are the latest pics and condition of my project. We have the front end off and disassembled. I cleanded the frame to get ready for some Chassis black form Eastwood. I'll be ordering the Hotchkis springs and KYB gas adjusts for the front end. I would like to go with some Bisteins, but those can be swappped later. I'm gonna replace the sway bar bushings and endlinks. The upper controls will be replaced with Hothckiss and tall spindles. The lowers will be stock for now.Nothing major going on, but making small progress while I build my motor.

How come you are not doing the Bilsteins now instead of the KYB adjustables before assembly?

I want to see how it is going to ride\handle with a mild upgrade. I do have a friend with an A body that is in bad shape. I could always off load the parts to him in the future, so I can recoup some money back. I definitely don't have money to throw away...lol I guess being new to this scene, I'm trying to soak in as much as possible and not doing to just because it sounds good. I'm always open to feedback though:willy:

Well I made a trip to the junk yard over the weekend. I picked up a set of rear disc from a 4x4 blazer, a fan\radiator\overflow from a Police Int Crown Vic, and a Hydroboost from an Astro van all for $92. I'm hoping the fan\rad combo will work since its all so complete and the fan is HUGE. I figured if it could cool the CV, I should be good. I got my firewall all cleaned and prepped with the help of my lovely, but camera shy assistant girlfriend. Actually she did a lot of the prep work and deserves the credit. Cam phone pics are what I have until i find the cable to my camera...lol I wish I chould have pulled the body off, but space doesnt allow. I did get the frame in the engine compartment prepped and I ordered the parts need to re-assemble my front end. I'll post mor pics when the parts come...:unibrow:
