Mass. Trying to outlaw aftermarket exhaust. Please read
Hi I belong to SAN its part of SEMA they sent me this E mail so I figured I would post it for our Mass. members.
Wayne URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT (Hearing Information) Massachusetts Bill to Ban the Use/Sale of Aftermarket Exhaust Systems to be Considered by Joint Transportation Committee on Tues., Oct. 6 A bill (H.B. 3332) to ban the “use and sale of any exhaust pipe that increases the sound emission of any vehicle including motorcycles” will be considered by the Massachusetts Joint Transportation Committee on Tuesday, October 6th. Legislation (H.B. 4027) to require the incorporation of noise level testing into the vehicle inspection process will also be considered. H.B. 4027 does not define a noise level limit, but allows it to be determined by the registry. We Urge You to Contact the Members of the Joint Transportation Committee (List Below) Immediately to Request Their Opposition to H.B. 3332 and H.B. 4027 For those interested in attending the hearing to voice opposition, the committee will meet on Tues., Oct. 6 at the following20address and time: State House, Room B-1 Boston, Massachusetts October 6, 2007 11:00 a.m. · H.B. 3332 ignores the fact that aftermarket exhaust systems are designed to make vehicles run more efficiently without increasing emissions. · H.B. 3332 does not supply law enforcement with a clear standard to enforce, allowing them to make subjective judgments on whether or not a modified exhaust system is in violation. · H.B. 3332 fails to recognize that aftermarket exhaust systems offer increased performance, which can make a vehicle safer by improving its ability to merge, pass, travel uphill, etc. · H.B. 3332 would make it difficult for hobbyists to replace factory exhaust systems with more durable, better performing options. DON’T DELAY! Please contact members of the Massachusetts Joint Transportation Committee immediately by phone or e-mail to request their opposition to H.B. 3332. Please e-mail a copy of your letter to Steve McDonald at [email protected]. Thank you for your assistance. Only in Massachusetts!!
Thanks for posting Wayne.
I knew it was a matter of time before they starting busting balls about this stuff. What's next?  |
Welcome to California!:D

Now theres a priority bill...... The state is running out of money, budgets are out of control and this is somehow important....:wow: What now a days is considered modified exhaust?
A friend of mine and his wife moved back to Mass after being gone since 1993. He said they missed the way it use to be. I told him times, seasons and places change over time. After 9 months they moved back to Las Vegas and said between the taxes and the cost of living there was nothing was they way it use to be. Here in California they have a bill before the Governator to tax ammo and finger print and track the purchases of ammo. I have had it with this state too. We will be moving to Texas or Colorado within the next 6 months. I am done with California. I agree with you this is pure stupidity. People elect politicians based upon in their eyes "logic". Then irrational, unlogical, smart dumb people get in office and have no sense of direction or common sense.... I will send some emails eventhough I do not live in your state... Good luck... Hope this stupidity is defeated... Blessings, AMS "Sticks and stones do break bones and stupidity is no Armor" |
What a surprise, these idiots bring this up every year yet they don't have the guts to require seniors to be tested to make sure they're safely able to operate a vehicle without slamming into a 4 year old, a parked cop or a Walmart. Not to mention being the ONLY state in the country to stop mailing reminders to renew your license in the hope that you'll get caught and have to pay court fees to line their pockets. This state is an F'ing fascist, mismanaged, nanny-state, PollyAnna joke.
Other than that, I have no strong opinions on the matter. |

It seems like we go through this BS every year. It's quite possible that message happens to be the attempt in 07. There are more oppressive and illogical bills being discussed on Beacon Hill right now so something like this coming back is well within the realm of possibility. I'm beyond tired of this crap. Wish I could leave.

I hear you Ben. They say the grass is always greener but I'm inclined to believe it at this point. I find myself wishing I had stayed in New Hampshire every time I read the newspaper.
I'll do what I can on getting in touch with my rep. I think Don Humason keeps an office in Westfield, maybe I'll swing by and leave him a note. |
