G.N.R.S OR Sacramento Autorama
what is a better show to attend?
|
I've done both -- you can not beat the GNRS --
Tip -- Go on FRIDAY first thing - if you go into the NHRA museum - you can go through that - which is cool on it's own - and buy your GNRS ticket there - walk out the back door when it opens - 11:00 I think on Friday - and go right into the show area. SATURDAY you can't see a thing -- it's so dang crowded it's not worth it (to me at least). |
thanks for the info and the tip. appreciate it. looks like if i can make it out it'll have to be for gnrs anyways. i won't be able to get time off for the autorama due to the olympics coming up. but hey, if it's the better one anyways....

Can you park by NHRA museum? |
No - you're not supposed to park that long there - but we just park in the other lot and walk to the museum.
I've never tried just leaving a car in that lot - you might get away with it - not like it's a metered lot or anything. |
One last comment on GNRS... and I'll shut up!
ON Saturday while everyone in the entire world was at the show - Rudy and I would hit all the shops -- Barry Whites - Coddington - So Cal - Marcels (across from Foose) personally I could spend the whole day there! - Foose... and sometimes go see what was cookin' at a couple of the bigger engine builders around town... and, or, take in the Peterson Museum... I'd do a Google map of all the locations I wanted to see - it's amazing how many are close enough that if you're "organized" = you can hit quite a few... and don't forget to check the schedule for FONTANA as they may be running drags on Saturday or Sunday... For me - making the trip to "LA" area is always like a pilgrimage to hot rod heaven. There's always so much more going on there than Seattle area. |
Are those shops open on Saturday?
|
YEP they are Al ---- been doing this "tour" every year -- and it's fun. Good people and projects in the shops - and few people - JUST MY KINDA DAY!
Now -- right after I've said all this -- it is a "recession" -- and things have changed and not in a good way - so if you're planning this kind of Saturday tour - it wouldn't hurt to give them a call BEFORE you make your plans. |

Thanks Greg, definitely going to do that on Saturday. I heard Chip has 3 killer projects going on.
My understanding is that Boyd shop closed. Marcel always has something cooking. About a yr ago, I was at Barry's and they were building a killer 55 chewy. Perhaps we can do the shop thing together. |
