Project "Mexican Truck"

This is a project going on at my high school. We are putting a Viper engine and T56 6 speed into a single cab short bed Chevy. It should be a running, driving chassis in a few weeks.

If anyone wants to donate some parts let me know and I can get you in touch with my autotech teacher.

So far the truck was torn down and we sandblasted the frame. We painted the rear end and suspension parts and Xtreme bedliners bedlined the frame for free. The engine and transmission are mounted and we are putting the suspension back together now.

I will try to take some more pictures, these are just a few the teacher took. The truck will be candy apple red and these pictures are just a mock up.

It's great to see autotech programs are still alive and doing this kind of stuff. Great project.

Very cool. Looks great. And with that motor tranny combo you will definately be surpising some unfortunate street trucks and cars out there.
Keep up the good work and post many many pics.

Nice! The "project mexican truck" made me laugh. It is exactly the kind of person who drove a truck like that, seriously, look at MY family members' past trucks LOL.

It is good to see HS programs still alive, they are getting more scarce as the time goes by. For most schools it is all about the football, which sucked for us kids who actually wanted to get out of HS with some sort of education.

You're not actually using that suspension set up with that engine, are you?

Yup, it was a V6 truck also. My teacher thinks it's gonna pull the front wheels off the ground too lol.. That rear end is gonna snap like a twig.

It's not really a big deal since this truck is most likely only going to be driven about a mile or two a year, if that..

I like this one. And I really like the extra firewall clearance. Nothing a cutoff wheel wont take care of huh? LOL!
