LS wiring question

So i have a recent post in here about an LQ4 build up. I want to use the LQ4 bottom end with L92 heads, l76 intake with fast 92mm throttle body.

my questions are is this throttle body (http://fuelairspark.com/3/FS/Intake/Default.aspx) drive by wire, if not what do i have to do to get things set for DBW?

Secondly, is this harness (see link) suitable or what do i have to do to get it tuned to this engine combo. properly?

no that is cable driven, why do you want drive by wire? It would be completly different throttlebody.

As far as computer system, you want it tuned to your combination. I went with Jesse at http://www.wait4meperformance.com/ he sold me a computer already tuned with my info for $160 My harness cost an additional $400 dollars

those heads rock, this should be a really fun combo..good luck:D -Chris

I was told drive by wire would be the way to go. Dont really know the pros or cons with it, so any advice in that respect would be appreciated, on top of the info you gave me, thanks by the way  .

What does the Throttle Positioning Sensor do, and secondly, what does the Drive By Wire throttle body look like as well as what are the pro's and con's of DBW vs Cable Driven?

what computer are you going to use? That will determine if you need throttle by wire or not, they're set up one way or the other, not both.

The throttle by wire tb's have no cable hookup or throttle arm on them at all; they have a round cylindrical motor that opens and closes the blade.

Ah, thanks Jody,

I dont know what computer im gonna use yet, but ive been hearing to probably stick with the the comp that came with whatever im pulling the motor out of so since its an LQ4 it will be cable driven out of a truck. So ill probably be sticking with Cable driven then and the factory computer.

The mystery of dbw is becoming more simple all the time.

I have come to prefer it. No cable through the firewall - no cable to adjust - cleaner engine bay - and NO idle screw or set adjusments. You can run a way lumpy cam with a more steady idle - built in cruise control...and more.

you need what they call the 0411 PCM, then get the gas pedal and TAC module from the donor truck.

There are several throttle bodies you can use - but you need to make sure they match the bolt pattern on the intake - some are three and some (the later LS2 and up) are four.

Your harness will depend on the reluctor in your crank (24 or 58) and if you want to get dbw or cable. If dbw, you need to know the complete application to match the pedal, tac and throttle body.

I have recently slayed the giant on this one...and my head is full of useless information regarding all the many combos...so pick my brain away while it is fresh!

The GM harness you choose is perfect. It is set up for 58 tooth reluctor (you have) and fly by wire, and is tunable. If you throw a cam in that thing the factory tune wil be scary close.

so basically i get the TB that jody was talking about with the harness i initially suggested, and im pretty good to go on the whole DBW? How would i go about tuning it? Oh yeah, and what is a reluctor and how do i know how many tooth it is (aside from someone telling me).

look right behind the starter, if the connector is black its a 24 tooth, if its grey its a 58 tooth. at least this is what ive based my computer order off of!:willy:
