Advice on first basic upgades
 

Alright guys, first I want to apologize if this has been covered many times before, but if it has I couldn't find it.

Anyway, I wanted to do some things to my '72 nova over my Christmas break that would be a fairly simple install while still giving a somewhat noticeable improvement and maintain a pretty low budget. So I came up with this small list:
-DSE front service kit
-CPP disc brake kit (haven't decided on either front or all 4 wheel)
-DSE front sway bar

And then I might replace several of the bushings throughout the car as I am sure they could use a little attention also. My main concern was if getting the sway bar would help at all given that I would leave the coils, control arms, etc. all stock for now. My car currently has an inline 6, so I wanted to wait until I got around to the LS motor to start changing out more of the front suspension as I would imagine that will change how it handles and its stance.

Any and all input and/or advice is greatly appreciated.

All of the things in your list will help out a bunch with handling andf stopping. The swaybar is a good item to ad at anytime. Post some pics when you can.

Looks like you have a good plan in mind. Just make sure you think ahead and get exactly what you need/want. Doing it twice sucks and it get's expensive. Make a complete list of everything you want to accomplish (nose to tail) and then start from the ground and work your way up. If you do go with brakes do discs on all four corners! Stopping is just as important as going fast!

Post up some pictures so we can watch it all come together.

Ya, I have looked at those, however, for now I am trying to stay with a relatively low budget because eventually I will rebuild basically the entire car with new and far better stuff, so all that I am doing now is just to get a little more experience and while in the process, make some minor improvements to a 37 year old car :D

Sway bars and bushings will improve your ride noticeably. If you buy good parts now, you won't need to replace them as your build progresses. We have a TVS complete system that will make huge improvements and since it's bolt on parts, you can add brakes and additional goodies as your budget allows.

I had seen your car in the thread. I apologize, I did not connect your name with that thread. I like it! And it sounds like you have a good plan going. The Hotchkis system mentioned above would make a really big difference and is reasonably priced too. Jason Rushforth put one in his Buick and said it is great.
