Anyone out there selling a smoothed firewall piece ready to weld?

They're really not that hard to make. I made mine in about a couple hours.

DSE has a partial panel too that does the passenger's side over the heater box. Looks nice...now if it would only jump out of the box and install itself :D .

Very easy to make. If you can install it, you can make it. Poster board is 3 for a 1.00, tape is a couple bucks.

yeah but some people dont want a 100% smooth piece and then DSE and the jakes rod shop one is a better option. and im pretty sure with jakes you can get a few different styles (bead rolled).

I bought mine because because I want a risk free job. The shop that's doing the work on my car will appreciate the ease of installation and charge me less for the fab work.

Good point. A completely smooth panel in there really doesnt have any style to it. Thats the route I went. A sheet of 16ga steel, plasma cutter (jigsaw works just as well) some poster board and a grinder with a flap disc, oh, and a welder.

But to be honest, you dont see much of the firewall anyway. When the engine is out yup, it looks like a large area of flat panel. But once the engine is in, brake components in and all the other stuff there really isnt much to see of the firewall.

I like the solidness of my 16ga firewall also. With the back bracing I have in place for some other stuff it has become a structural member in a sorts.

And... If I had the skills and machines a nice bead on the panel would have been a nice accent. Not for panel stiffening but just for looks. 16ga steel doesnt need any stiffening. Ya need some serious machine to bead 16ga steel.

One last comment. You DONT need 16ga steel for a firewall. I used it cause I had four sheets of it and used it for my entire floor, rear bumper to firewall. So I used what I had. Might be a lil heavy but I dont think so. Ill see once I scale it. JR

Jakes beaded is 18g. I'm sure i'll be fine with that. The work he did on one of his cars really gave me confidence.
