Product Idea

I have an idea that you guys may be interested in building. There would be pretty good market for these, but it could get expensive due to small pieces and assembly time. If this isn't something you'd like to do, maybe you know someone who would???

It's one of those things I've wanted to design and build myself, but the odds of it getting finished and working properly any time in the near future are slim to none (too many projects  ) They may already be out there, but I have never seen them...

I would like a "stock" appearing staple-shifter (68-72 Chevelle - I think Camaros had them too) with full-ratchet mechanism, and of-course, an extra gear for O/D all fitting inside a stock console. :)

That's a cool idea. They do the O/D extra gear thing now with a new detent but the shifter doesn't ratchet.

Yes, I've seen those, and I will need to purchase one in the near future, but I'd like a ratcheting one for at the track :)

A paddle-shifter is a great alternative, but it wouldn't look "right" with the stock-interior look I'm going for, which will include a stock repro rosewood steering wheel.

I've alwyas liked the Mopar slap stick shifters. It would be cool to have something like that.

I'm not familiar with those, do they ratchet both directions? It would be nice to not hit 1st when downshifting into 2nd exiting a corner... or I could let the computer pick my gears, but where's the fun in that? :D
