Who has a Wayne Due CHASSIS??
I want to make it clear I am not looking to bash anyone just want some info. A couple years ago I had Wayne build me a front clip as a copy of what someone on here had posted. It is just a 2/3 clip that uses stock 1st Gen Camaro parts. Mine was used to be spliced into a street rod rear section. I wanted to use all DSE stuff as I was tired of Mustang 2 cheap bushings and etc. I wanted a 2x3 chassis and not a used 1st gen sub. Wayne just left off all the tabs and left the rails longer for a generic clip.
Anyway, when it arrived there were some alignment issues. Lets just say it was diamond and had to be cut and rewelded. No big deal as Wayne was good guys and maybe a mistake? shipping problem??? Now I go to instal lower control arms and they hit the mounts in compression. I pushed project aside. Now starting up again There is no way that a rack can be mounted in the frame. Again some rework and clearance any we are somewhat good to go. I had emailed someone on here who had the other frame that was made. Wayne sent me pics of the other frame when we were trying to figure out problems. Who has the other frame set up??? Could you PLEASE PM me. I am just curious if this is even worth my time at this point. I read the 50/50 thread although a bit late, I am not wondering if I should just cut this off??? There is no way someone is driving this frame in as shipped condition. Thanks. |
Art Morrison -- is building a "copy" of the Wayne Due clip... perhaps they'd be able to help you work out your issues.
I had a full WD C5 clip -- it was PERFECT... and a beautiful piece. I didn't think he ever made a clip to accept "stock" A arms.... but maybe he did. Just don't understand why he would or why anyone would want that. Maybe I misread your post... |
I re-read the post -- sorry -- Now I get it - you're NOT using stock gen 1 arms... so never mind my idiot post.
 |
I think Scott, owner of this website, had the other frame you speak of.

Maybe post some pictures of what you are talking about and there are quite a bunch of very helpful people on here that can give you some pointers.

Actually I am digging through old paperwork and one of the pics does say Scott on it. I do remember emailing and if was him he said his was fine??? I will see if he responds or I will shoot him an email.
Idea behind chassis was I did not want Mustang 2 suspension. Not so much for the geometry but wanting OEM style parts. I wanted real world bushings, etc. I have done a few m2 deals and in NY the roads are rough and had bushing issues. The Camaro stuff was and easy swap. I used Wayne as he had the jig and I was starting with clean slate. I will get pics but the car is on the ground and pushed to the side. I am going o hopefully start working on it and wanted to do research 1st to dive right in. It is a 51 Ford Woodie. |
Yep, I have one. The area that you're talking about is extremely minor. The bracket is slightly oversized on the outside edge. I took at most .200" off the corner with a grinder. Basically just softened the radius.
The potential contact area looks way worse in mock up because there's no bump stops. You will never run it that low on the street, anyways. I have no idea how you can't bolt the rack in. I have 7,300 miles on the car now with that subframe. |

Scott,
If I remember correctly your clip was made to use DSE / Global West controll arms, if this is that same click I remember he was going to start to sell these but never did. |
