Well its time for a new daily. I'm seriously considering moving from a full size chevy truck down to a Toyota Tacoma. All I do is drive it and look pretty in it. I have a dually for towing and so forth so not worried about that part. Just curious if anyone else has moved down in trucks and still be happy?

I had a GMC Canyon and loved it.. was easier to park, drive, etc.. BUT it couldn't tow anything real heavy (ie, a car) so I bought a full size.

If you have a truck for towing then I say go for the smaller "around town" truck.

That said, if I had a seperate truck just for towing I would have a car for daily driving.. something fun like G8, Camaro, Vette or even a new GTO.

We had a Tacoma for a little over 4 years and just went to a Tundra for towing. The Tacoma is a great truck. It tows pretty well just lacks the brakes for it. It was as reliable as you could ever ask for. Another perfect example of where GM has missed the mark. The Colorado is a joke compared to this truck.

i was driving a 3/4 ton ford , and i changed to a 1/2 ton . i loved driving it because i can park anywhere . now i have tried to downsize to a explorer and i hate to drive it because its too small . stay with your 1/4 ton you bill be happier .

I actually moved up from a Dodge Dakota to my full size Chevy 2500HD, but I needed it to tow our trailer. If I didn't need it, I would have happily kept my dakota. I can park it anywhere, it was better on gas, I could still throw Bud Light cans in the back, and it had four doors and plenty of room.

Was in the same spot as you and ended up picking up a 05 GTO with 40k miles, LS2, and 6 speed. Getting around 23-25 MPG and enough power to have a lot of fun with. Shop around and they can be had pretty damn cheap considering what you get.

I went from a S-10 ZR2 to a 2500 HD Ext cab long bed(lifted)

Im considering the same thing. I have a 99 K3500 crewcab long bed 4x4. I love the space of the long bed, so i have decided im just going to go down to a 2500hd and havent decided on bed length.

I would say since you already have a towing vehicle get a 1/2 ton truck

I can say that I honestly regret going from a long bed to a short bed. I HATE it and am reminded often. As in every time I load anything.
Stick with a longbed if you can. My reasoning was that I didn't utilize the space often enough so thought I didn't need it. I'm missing it now.

Good point Eric, our Tacoma had the short bed and it was tiny. The new Tundra is the in between bed and it's perfect. I can throw my 450 in the back and slam the tail gate. It's not a country mile long either.
