12Bolt Housing Ends, with C Clip eliminator. What brakes??
Hello Guys
Not a big poster here, but have an issue i am trying to solve. I am building a 70 Nova, with a built LSx, and t56. The rear axle has 12 bolt housing ends, wiht the GM 3,150 " bearing, tapered. This is the style where you have a seal in the center to the axle, and one on the outer, and you use the retainer plate to preload it, and seal to the housing. What brake kit fits to this? I have found wilwood to have to thick backing plates, causing the retainer plate to bottom out before i have the desired preload.. Any input is appreciated, i am literally seconds away from remelting the whole axle, and trade it for an old monkey bike:unibrow: In advance, thanks. Nils Eirik Wenaas |
i had 9 inch ford housing ends installed... im prety sure core3 has brakes galore for GM ends.. as does baer

Nils, any of Baer's rear brake kits will work with the C-clip eliminator. I am a Baer dealer and am having a sale on Baer kits which will save you a substantial amount of money.

Thanks, have you experienced the same trouble? How do you solve the emergency brake with that then? Via the calipper? How do you attatch the calipper bracket then? On the "backside" of the housing end? Nils |
Depending on the bolt pattern on the housing end, we have some Wilwood kits. You need to measure though and see what the housing bolt pattern and axle offset is. We have internal drum e brakes which are really nice set up.

Just a thought, but if selling the bolt-on C-clip eliminators and axles is an option, having new housing ends welded onto your housing along with new axles would open up a whole range of brake kits for you. We typically suggest the new-style Ford 9" housing ends as a good standard, however can accommodate other positively retained applications as well. Tobin KORE3 |

I would put Big Ford Torino End on it if it has bolt on Eliminators. |

There are tons of Pro Touring brakes from every manufacturer that will fit Torino ends.
