66 Chevelle Project "Thumper"
Hey guys,
I hope to learn some new tricks and hear some stories from you guys. I am neck deep in my project and hoping to get it rolling this summer if funds allow. Here are the basics: 66 SS Chevelle 138 car Theme is Gasser/Touring (no straight axle here..) Roots blown small block with dual dominators. TH400 with brake, CK drum, etc. Gear Vendors OD. Currie 9" Housing N case 3:50 gears and Detroit locker (quaife on the wish list). Currectrac billet lower arms out back with double johnny uppers. HR Partsnstuff rear anti-roll bar. Custom ET 5 spoke rims 18 rear 17 front. C6 Z51 brakes. Undecided on front A arms but I am going with L&H spindles. Plan is for stock mount style dual adjust Varishocks all around. Hypercoils with adjusters out back and Santhuff springs up front. Grand Cherokee PS box That's all I can think of for now.. Russ http://images.blownchevelle.multiply...nmid=310699184 |
nice project, what are the specs on the engine?

Thanks for the compliment!
I had the engine in my 85 Monte SS before I got the Chevelle. My Monte was a mean street machine. I had it for 13 years and it ran 10.70 in the 1/4. It was never going to be my old 66 from high school so I painfully sold it as a roller to help fund my dream car. The small block is 359 cubes with Eagle H beams, SRP Pistons, Total seal rings, Canfield Heads, BDS solid lifter cam. I run 9:5 static and 10.5 pounds of boost. I run a Weiand 6:71 with dual 1150 Dominator carbs. Here is a link to my engine build pics. http://blown66ss.multiply.com/photos..._data##photo=1 |
Here's how the project sits today..
Bolted the body back on the frame and have all suspension installed but the steering linkage. It is nice to see it rolling and looking more like a car than a pile of parts again. http://multiply.com/mu/blownchevelle...nmid=159018567 http://multiply.com/mu/blownchevelle...nmid=159018567 http://multiply.com/mu/blownchevelle...nmid=378554742 |
