Ultimate Restorations 68 Camaro Rebirth
Hey guys, here is the story of our shop car from Ultimate Restorations In Danbury,CT. We have had this 68 for more then 20 years and it has gone though many diffrent changes over the years, The last rebuild was about 4 years ago, but now its time for a change. Here she was in the early 90s when it was a blown big block Thanks to my brother Al, Of Big Als Toybox of CT, with its "out of the blue" paint color. http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...forsale064.jpg
After a few years the car was torn back down and sat as we grew our business and concentrated more on customers cars and other peoples rides, then 3 years ago, it was time for a rebuild and she came out with her fresh "Ultimate Orange" paint, 700hp Blown small block, and some ugly cheesy wheels, however, the car won a TON of shows including Boston World of wheels, frank miradas car show, and many large local and national shows, Here she is at boston W.O.W http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...fwheels048.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...fwheels049.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...fwheels008.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/car2154.jpg The car also sported a custom interior that i had put in in 1985 LOL! http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/car2146.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/car2144.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/car2150.jpg |
The car needed a serious change, so we pulled her in the garage, and got to work, Here she is among our other 68's http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/car2124.jpg

http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars271.jpg
Our Trunk sucked, So we cut it out. We wanted to show off our awesome optima battery and add a new polished fuel cell recessed in the floor. http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars028.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars033.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Cars045-1.jpg And then we test fit our fuel cell http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Cars027-1.jpg |
We wanted to do something diffrent with the center console, so we mocked up a few diffrent things with wood and then started bending metal.
http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Cars036-1.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Cars037-1.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Cars038-1.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Cars050-1.jpg Then we lost our ugly rims.. CYA http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars229.jpg |
After getting the fuel cell to fit, we cut the floor to recess the optima http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars146.jpg
http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Cars148-1.jpg Then we continued work on our center console. http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Cars149-1.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars173.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars171.jpg Then we finished up the trunk section http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Cars153-1.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Cars157-1.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Cars159-1.jpg |
With the back of the console mocked up, we got started on the front. http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars243.jpg
http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars244.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars254.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars256.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars257.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars275.jpg Then we ordered every item Fesler had for the 68 camaro, Thanks Fesler your parts are awesome! http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars255.jpg |
Time to smooth her out http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars286.jpg
http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars300.jpg Then we started to mock up some trunk panels http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars310.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars309.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars306.jpg The stock defrost vents sucked, so we lost them http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars287.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars361.jpg |
More smoothing http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars341.jpg
http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars342.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars344.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars359.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars367.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars368.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars371.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars372.jpg |
With the interior pretty much roughed out, it was time to concentrate on some other aspects. http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars390.jpg
Small blocks are nice.. http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars416.jpg But big blocks are nicer :) http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars438.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars440.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...le/Cars437.jpg |
