pcv/ breather setup
Ok i know there are a million threads dicussing it. this one is just me asking a question to reassure myself..
check out this link: http://www.turbophile.com/technical/diy_catch_can.html Now i know this guy isn't the master fabricator but do you guys think this is an effective breather setup? i will still run a pcv valve from the intake to crankcase. I was thinking about running one on each side between the head and the acc brackets. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...g?t=1270587653 The thing i like about his article is that i can build these tanks myself in a small enough fashion that they will fit. Do you guys think the area given ~(6"x3") would be big enough? i might have to drain them more often but at least i could keep them small and clean. i was thinking -10 or bigger line from the front of each valve cover to the tank on each side or just building a "log" between each cover. then on the rear of the passengers valve cover running the pcv to the manifold (ls1 performer rpm) |
they'd be fine with a larger breather, as long as you run two of them.

i planned on using the style breather like the ones you replace the oil filler in the valve cover with. probably k&N as far as the steel wool goes... is there something better that isnt so prone to rusting?

is a catch can a must on boosted set ups

Im running a stefs breather canister with a 10 AN bung welded to my right side valve cover you dont need to breathers as long as one works real well!
Canisters are great they keep all the sepage under control! |
Yeah but I'm one of those really weird anal people that has to have everything symetrical and even!

I'd run two with no pcv. The smaller breather will increase the velocity of the oil mist.

Vegas, what size lines would you reccommend on that setup. Its ideal for me because I don't like the idea of oil in my intake track!
|
I run two -12's.

Since 8 stacks have like "no" vacuum... (except a small signal for the MAP).. I ran a line to a breather can from the fuel pump block off plate. Drilled and tapped it for a -10.... then running two K&N breathers on the VCs. The can takes the bottom end pulses. Seems to work.
