L&H Kustoms Tall Spindles on a First Gen

Since I've been getting into autocrossing more and I wanted to improve the geometry of my suspension, I decided to try out the L&H Kustoms tall spindles. These should help maintain the contact patch around corners.

Here you can see the billet spindles. They definitely look like a solid piece.

Here's what I started with. Nothing special, just generic 11" factory-style discs.

In order to get the caliper bracket to fit the new spindle, a ridge on the back side of the bracket needs to be ground down. This shows approximately how much the hole is off pre-grinding.

Old stuff out of the way...

At ride height, the ball joint doesn't exhibit any extreme angles even with stock control arms so they should work.

Coming together...

Everything back together. I had to grind the steering arm quite a bit so it would fit around the larger spindle. After an alignment, it was ready to drive.

After a few days of city driving, there was no decrease in ride quality. I'll be autocrossing at GoodGuys Del Mar this weekend to see how much they improve lateral grip. I'll keep y'all updated!

Looks like a real nice piece. How did they handle today?

just a quick update, I went on a cruise to northern AZ last weekend and I was able to keep up with the 4th gen Camaros and Firebirds through the twisties. on a couple curves that I took just a little too fast, the rear end stepped out a little instead of the front pushing. definitely a nice change.
