Rims for C2 Vette with big rotors

Just curious if anyone has seen a C2 Corvette with large (15.5-inch-diameter (394-mm) in the front and 15-inch-diameter (380-mm) in the rear) rotors?

What rims were used that did not look dorky?

I've never seen one with rotors that big. I've seen 18s on a C2 and thought it looked good but 18s are about as big as you want to go IMHO. After that, it looks like a hot wheels car. So if 18s will fit go for it. I just hope you have an aftermarket frame and are tubbed or flared. the rear can barely handle a 8inch tire without body mods.

I would need a brake template but we should be able to clear those with 19" Forgelines. We did a 72 a while back with 18s and 19s looked great. I think 19s all around would look fine.

We do a lot of the older Vettes with newer suspensions (C4 C5) and big brakes including working on one now that has all the new ZR1 stuff. Lots of options but here is a classic look.

I think they are a little big in the 18 and 19 but that is what it takes to clear those big brakes!

See more pics at Evod Industries

Yep, but size does matter.:D

SRIII Motorsports is putting the frame together for me. So, yes, it will have a custom tube frame.

Beyond that, the fenders will be stretched. Something like '67 Heaven.

OK, not to sound too dumb, but what's a "brake template"?

I've been eyeballing the Evod rims, especially the turbine ones. Really nice units. I was warned by an Evod guy that it may look dorky with 19 inch rims (along with similar comments by others) thus the query.

Thoughts? Thanks for the inputs thus far!!

A template is a "mock up" or "guideline" sheet of paper drawn to scale to make sure the wheel will clear the larger brake diameter. The paper will have a picture of the brakes on it with measurements for you to use for clearance.

Here's a 67 with stock c6 Z06 rubber (19" rear, 18" front). Fenders are 1.5" GTS Customs.

Joe
I don't think the 19s look "dorky" at all. Some people just like smaller wheels that look more original in size but as you know you can not do that with the modern suspension and brakes.
You just need to find the look you want for the car with either modern Vette rims, modern performance look like HRE or Forgeline, or vintage look like Evod Turbine or Torque Thrust style wheels.
Good luck in your search and I look forward to seeing the car when it is done.

Slo65- That Vette looks sick!! Love the flares.

A "brake template" is typically a 2-dimensional cross-sectional representation of a brake caliper and rotor combination that can be used for wheel fitment purposes. Here's a link to the fitment templates on our website for various C5/C6 based kits. We have yet to complete the C6 ZR1 template, however should have it done and posted soon. I'm guessing that is the kit you are asking about since the rotor sizes seem to match, but maybe not. I will say that the ZR1 brakes have a huge caliper overhange dimension (~2-3/8") and as such will require a very thick center wheel for spoke to caliper clearance.
