Rack and pinion DIY

I have a 71 Firebird that I am building on a budget. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on how to come up with a DIY rack and pinion setup. I don't have the extra dough to fork out on a "ready built" rack and pinion setup. I am using an LS engine if that helps. Any help would be awesome!!:willy:

Unless your looking to shed a few pounds there is no real need to go with a rack. You have front steer and great bump numbers. Get a modified 600 box and make sure all your joints are good.

i would go with the LEE blueprinted box in your case, no need to go to a rack.

we can set you up.

:lateral: I was just going to use a rack for better steering, but if updating the gear will be sufficient then that is what I shall do. Thanks guys!
