Aftermarket stock style spindle?
Most everything I've read, with the exception of marketing material  , says that the drop spindles are bad news. However, it seems there are tons of companies making and marketing them. Trusting the forums I'm going to stick with a stock style given my current build plan. I'm going to need a new set of disc spindles though. Is there one set that is better than another? I'm guessing most are imported.
Current plan: Stock subframe clean, weld, etc G-mod Speedtech UCA/LCA QA1 DA coilover setup Thanks, John |
Short ATS spindles is what I would run. And the cost savings on the brakes would pay for a bunch of the spindle price.

If you want to stick with the stock type spindles versus something like the AFX option, I would find a clean pair of original, take-off spindles myself. Disc or drum, they're still going to be better quality than what I've seen from the imported ones in the past and you should be able to get brake kits to suit your needs either way if upgrades are in your plans.

If you haven't done the G-mod yet, I would save the time by not doing it and buy the ATS tall spindles.

Some more info...
I already have a set of Wilwood 4 piston front brakes. Nothing fancy but something I picked up when plans were more focused on drag strip ;) . Regardless I want to still be able to slap on some 15" wheels so I think I'm stuck with small brakes anyway. I think this also precludes me from using the ATS spindles tall or short. Hearing that OEM spindles are stronger than the aftermarket ones is not what I wanted to hear but certainly something I thought was a real possibility. That's a bummer. That's also why I asked here before just ordering up a set from random manufacturer. Thanks, John |
ssbc has a brake kit available for the ATS spindle that will fit "Most" 15 " wheels we are currently workingto see if we can sell them. but you can always check them them out on line
