Flush mounted glass what are you doing for seals ?
As the title suggests curious to see what brands those who have flush mount front and rear screens are using.
I have welded a bead inside the frames and will seal with sealant / glue to the frame, but then need to run the rubber seal on the outside to tidy it up, can anyone share what / where they got a rubber seal to fit Thanks in advance |
Are you using stock glass or the oversize glass? I just installed the glass kit from Glass Innovations. I think that is what the company is called.
It was a pain making there rubbers work that came in the kit but it turned out nice. I would do it different on the next car. Go here and you will see some pictures of it. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=146850 |
Thanks, yeah standard glass, welded a bead into the frame to remove the gap from the chrome trim...

How much of a gap did you leave between the glass and body. I would make it look like the truck flush glass. They have a rubber that slips on the side of the glass and when you set the glass it will fill the area between the glass edge and body. Like the new cars .
Here is the type we used that came in the kit. This is the small one and we used the next size. Sorry dont have a piece that we used. The hardest part is going around the curves. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...o/DSC03344.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...o/DSC03345.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...d/DSC03229.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...d/DSC03228.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...d/DSC03224.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...d/DSC03223.jpg |
I use a J-channel molding for the flush mount glass kits. It has an adhesive in the channel where it attachs to the glass and comes in multiple widths up to 1 inch. It is much easier to work with vs. what comes in the flush mount glass kit.

I use universal molding that comes on big rolls from Safelite, call your local Safelite glass distributor, they sell all the materials you need for glass installation

Thanks everyone, that's perfect, exactly what I was after...
