Cleaning out a gas tank

What is the best method to clean out a gas tank? I don't need to weld on it, I just need to clean 15 years worth of cruddy gas buildup out of it. I am taking it out tomorrow, but what then? Any ideas are welcome! It is a 66 Mustang tank, if that matters.

If it was any other tank I would say send it to the radiator shop and let them clean it out. But Mustang tanks are dirt cheap, like 100 bucks. Just buy a new one. You will pay 75 bucks typically to clean an old one out.

my dad always threw a bunch of cleaner in it and a long chain and sloshed it around..

I've heard of putting pennies in it and sloshing them around with water. I used a pressure washer on one before. But as said previously, it's not really worth the $25 you'll save with a new tank.

If I had any idea they were so cheap, I never would have bothered to ask the question! $85 brand new....I guess I know where I am going on Monday...

Tim, I have a new '69 tank if you want a 20 gallon tank. You'll need to modify the filler tube to use. If you want it is yours!
