Repairing Roof Pits
3 Attachment(s)
Apart from replacing the entire roof, which I think is now available for 70-72 Cutlass, what have folks done? They were previously covered in bondo. How about brazing?
Second question concerns the drip rail. The 3rd picture shows the passenger side toward the back. Along with the rot through the drip rail, the roof is rotted as well. Don't know if attempting to metal patch that part of the roof is worth the effort or not. I can do without the drip rail as I've considered shaving them anyway. --Gary Attachment 26047Attachment 26048Attachment 26049 |
We have a hand held spot blaster that does a good job on those, but I hate those little pits, miss one and your done. I see other rust, I would skin the roof.

It's a 71 Olds Cutlass Supreme and I can't seem to find that roof skin available anywhere. My have to find an acceptable one in a bone yard. I know where a few may be located, so I'll have to call and check into them.

So in that case I would meticulously spot blast the pits then ospho the entire roof with a da with a scotchbrite pad on it, scrub the you know what out of it and cross you fingers you got them all.
