Cage/Bar for '69 Camaro?
While I save my pennies for the suspension to pro-tour my car, I am drag racing it. I need a bar/cage that will allow me to go in the 9's in the QTR mile. I've been reading up on NHRA rules, and I think an 8 point bar will suffice.
I'd like to go with chromoly steel, and I'd like the cage to be as "hidden" as possible. How much should I expect to pay for the cage, with installation? Are there any reputable installers in the Stockton / Sacramento areas that can help me with this? Many thanks for your input. --Roger |
We had one just leave the shop today.
The customer removed the interior and carpet himself and we fab'd an 1-3/4" Mild Steel 8 point to NHRA spec. Total bill: parts and labor was $1,250. I would say depending on Labar rates you're looking at 1,200-1,500 for mild steel. Add approx $300 for CM |
I saw some cage and bracing work a shop in Oakdale did on a 68 Camaro recently. They are in Oakdale and aren't too far from you I believe. Performance Dyno Tuning is their name. Might be worth checking out.

9.99 and faster actually needs a 10 point cage per NHRA, keep that in mind if you are planning on racing those events.

Thanks, guys. I'm putting an 8 point cage in it for now, and I expect to run very low 10's on the N2O. If I dip in to the very high nines (such as 9.98), the track won't kick me out - just warn me. I'll be careful.
