This Weekend I Race Trans Am - and I don't mean the car....
 

The SCCA Trans Am series is in the process of recovery. At some tracks the entries have been low and SCCA Pro has added other classes to help put on a better show.

As soon as the date was announced I signed on as the Event Chairman for the Trans Am race at Brainerd International Raceway. Last week Jim Derhaag called to ask if I wanted to also race my STO (Super Touring) Mustang in the Trans Am race.

I didn't hesitate more than a couple microseconds before saying yes.

I'll be in last place - that is fine with me. I'd just like to go the distance (cue the Rocky theme song). The TA cars will lap in Sub 1:30 laps at BIR's 2.5 mile course. I'll be in the low 1:40's. I'll get lapped about 5 times in the 90 mile race.

As a kid influenced by the series it was a thrill for me just to be part of bringing the series back to BIR. Now that I'm driving it is even more sweeter.

Time for some prep work!

That is sweet, what day and time is the race scheduled? I'll be in Hill City for a Wedding on Saturday, but was hoping to get to BIR on Sunday since I also have a buddy drag racing that weekend.
