Brake Lights Delay off

I got the 69 Firebird back into a driveable state and found that the Brake lights were still on after I turned off the car and got out. After about a minute they did shutoff. I did add a bit of wiring to the car for the Vintage Air, Electric Fan, Covan's Dash with Autometer Gauges, but I did nothing with the wiring in the trunk area of the car. I did replace the entire brake system from manual drums to Power assist Wilwood Disc and new lines.
The new serp belt kit from March has a one wire Altenator which required the remove of the external voltage regulator.
Everything else that uses the new electrical components works correctly. I have not turned on the VA A/C yet as I am taking it to get the vacuum and charge done later to day.
All the new grounds were tested to make sure they did have a path to ground and all stuff in the engine bay was ran to the battery.

Any ideas of what to look for?
thanks
Ray

First thing I would look at is your brake light switch. Make sure that you have full brake pedal return (check the return spring too). The pedal has to hit the plunger on the switch and fully press it into the switch body to open the contacts of the switch. For a couple of bucks pick one up at the local parts store (Autozone, etc) and replace it. It will most likely solve the problem if wiring is not the issue.

What he said ^ ^

Pull your pedal up by hand and see if the lights go out.
If they do, that's your issue.
