Engine transporting in pick up bed..??
Question,
I pick up my engine I purchased this weekend. What would be the best way to secure it in my pick up bed as in laying it in the bed? Buy a engine cart, one of those short deals? Idea's? |
a big tire (with something to protect the sides of the motor if painted) and two good straps has always worked for me. If it's not raining.

^^ this.
Also, an engine stand and some really solid straps can work too. Just drive carefully. |
Yea no rain. I have plenty of straps but I might also be bringing home on the same trip a new hood in a box so trying to make sure nothing moves around. If it was just the engine tires sound pretty cherry.

doesnt really matter.. a tire, two blocks, one under each enginemount.. a stand..
as long as the engine is all the way forward in the bed and tightlt secured with a strap or two it wont go anywhere no matter how you drive |
slide the motor to the back (tailgate) and set the hood on it, low end to the cab so it doesn't get air under it. Strap it also of course.

I think I am going to try and buy a rolling cradle. This engine has no side mounts (bare block) and oil pan on it. He has it on a engine stand.
