Engine transporting in pick up bed..??

Question,

I pick up my engine I purchased this weekend. What would be the best way to secure it in my pick up bed as in laying it in the bed? Buy a engine cart, one of those short deals?

Idea's?

a big tire (with something to protect the sides of the motor if painted) and two good straps has always worked for me. If it's not raining.

^^ this.

Also, an engine stand and some really solid straps can work too. Just drive carefully.

Yea no rain. I have plenty of straps but I might also be bringing home on the same trip a new hood in a box so trying to make sure nothing moves around. If it was just the engine tires sound pretty cherry.

doesnt really matter.. a tire, two blocks, one under each enginemount.. a stand..

as long as the engine is all the way forward in the bed and tightlt secured with a strap or two it wont go anywhere no matter how you drive

slide the motor to the back (tailgate) and set the hood on it, low end to the cab so it doesn't get air under it. Strap it also of course.

i just hate having it back there if you crash into somthing it wont come flying thru the back window if its forward in the bed...

I think I am going to try and buy a rolling cradle. This engine has no side mounts (bare block) and oil pan on it. He has it on a engine stand.

Tires or an engine stand is fine as long as you have tie down straps to secure it. Me personally, I would sit the engine forward in the bed (near the cab) not at the end near the tailgate. Lastly, what engine did you decide to go with?
