Small Block Serpentine
 

Anybody know if a newer serpentine setup off a late model truck will work on my 84 chevy c10? I dont have AC, just P/S and alternator.

I think this would be a good budget alternative. Where would be the best place to find these?

you can buy a new one from gmmp for around $600 complete

That would be perfect. To be honest, I was hoping to find something used off a 90's truck, and use either that P/S and alternator or re-use my own.

Does anyone sell a kit that includes just the brackets, hardware and pulleys? I have no need to replace the water pump, alternator or Type II PS pump, bud I'd like to convert to a serpentine system.

I'm basically trying to avoid the hassle of a junk yard run and dealing with fitment issues.

I have a system i pulled of a 1991 c1500 on my 327. simple removal install, but you do need the accessory bolt holes in the passenger head as well as the driver side.. How fast do you need this setup? I am swithing to a 5.3 and part ways with my system.

If you are trying to use the GM style factory serpentine setup, then I believe you have to change the water pump (reverse rotation). I don't know if the Type II PS pump you have would fit either.

I have used the 88-92 F-body serpentine setup on an old SBC I had and it worked great. You can also look for 90-95 5.0 or 5.7 truck stuff.

Sure, It looks like the AFR heads I have do include the accessory mounting holes so that may improve the odds of a factory style system working. I'm not in any hurry, as the existing v-belt system works ok.

Chris, I hear ya on the reverse rotation water pump, I know that may be a necessary change depending on the system I end up using. Seems likely given the typical wrap arrangement. With the PS pump I assumed (there's that dangerous word) it would be ok with a pulley swap since it's essentially a modern style part. Plus, the location and wrap of the V setup seems the same as most serp systems I've seen, I believe...

I'm not necessarily aiming for a gm setup, but if that's the only budget approach that works well and allows me to re-use some parts, then so be it.

One more thing about the GM water pump (either 88-92 car or 90-95 truck), if you go that way. The truck pump has provisions for a heater hose (similiar to one on a SBC), the car one does not (the heater hose connects to the radiator on the TPI cars). I believe the spacing is the same on both. The TPI corvette has a another serp option but they are probably alot harder to find and I believe the water pump spacing is different.
