72 Nova rear suspension options
When I get home from Iraq I will be picking up a 72 Nova, I'm not a drag racer so not worried about a straight line. I currently own a 05 GTO and love taking it through the twisties. I have thought about adapting the rear suspension from a GTO to a Nova but am also looking for other options. I like what speed tech offers but I'm trying to do this low budget. I also like the truck arm idea but have only seen those for 1st and 2nd gen novas. Any suggestions will be great. The car will only be used for cruising and spirited runs down twisty roads that I know.
Thanks in advance Mark |
it will probably cost you just as much to adapt the GTO rear suspension into the nova when you could buy some top of the line stuff already tailored to your car. dse and speed tech i would say are the way to go having seen and heard such good things about each of them. if you wanna go the cheaper route, go leaf springs and all that. Get a hotchkis TVS system and take all the guess work out. they actually have a great nova article on their site with before and after pictures and numbers. they are great people over there having personally dealt with them before. Best of luck with your project, i cant wait to get my '70 nova on the road, so i can imagine how you feel.

Thanks for the input and quick response. I do like the speed tech and the nova they built. I found one that is running so I'm going to enjoy it like that for a while but not too long after I get it will start the long process of rebuilding. I have great plans but I know it will take a while and there is a guy right down the street from me that has some GTOs in his camaro grave yard that I could rummage through. Only time will tell witht this project.
Thanks again |
have a look at the post "what rear setup should i run" same topic as yours

Thanks again for the info, don't get me wrong Speed Tech stuff looks great! But I'm kinda looking for an IRS setup, I have seen a few vette setups used in some cars, also some early 2000+ model Cobra setups used. If all else fails I will undoubtly turn to speed tech.
