novice question about this sick a$$ camaro

What is that sticking out beneath the bottom of this car? That piece that they painted body color that is almost touching the ground? Why is it sitting that low? A custom subframe? That looks scrapping-dangerous....I'm shooting for a similar look, and was planning on a full sub up front and four link in rear...maybe not quite as low, and would prefer not to have whatever that is hulking out from underneath the car waiting to hit some road debris

Looks like the front subframe. Maybe airride all aired out...

does every aftermarket subframe, alston, dse, etc stick out like that?

every factory one sticks out just like that as well. thats why first gens are perfect candidates for rocker extensions etc

If by "sticking out" you mean that visible, when painted something other than body color it will be much less noticeable.

I don't think that car is driven much at all at that ride height.

Seems odd to paint a subframe bodycolor, almost like bringing attention to it rather than let it contrast the color...looks sort of like it was oversprayed...I'm sure that wasn't the intention, lol.

in any event, I was just wondering if they all stick out like that and apparently they do, because if there was a simple alternative, i would rather not have anything protruding bellow the car that far. I have no desire to be that low, but Id ideally like to sit as low as functionally possible... So my question was answered.... i could care less in the end. If thats the norm, it is....

You hit the nail on the head. Scott Whidby has built some bad-ass camaros
