ZZ502/Gen V-VI Block Pics Needed
Some of you may know that I am a model builder. I want to machine a ZZ502 out of aluminum with all the internals for my scratch built model. However, I am lacking a lot of pictures. Can any body take, or does anybody have pictures of the internals, bare block, journals, lots and lots of reference pics with it taken apart, and dimensions would be great!
Thanks! |

Well, I've spent the past 10 hours or so designing the crank. I first figured out the firing order for the 502, then I looked at a pic of the motor with the head of to figure out where the pistons were when cylinder 1 was at TDC. Yadda, yadda, yadda, lots of design to figure out the crank position for the exact firing order.
Here are some AutoCAD 3D drawings. No where near the quality of Kris's, but what do you expect with AutoCAD rendering? http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/7040/crank11qn.jpg http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/4568/crank29rr.jpg Next up is to figure out the cam. That should be fun trying to figure out valve lift, lobe size and configuration for correct valve timing. Enjoy! |
Heres the cam, took a long time to figure out but here it is and it works.
Correct valve timing (IVO 6.5° ATDC; IVC 37.5° ABDC; EVO 47.0° BBDC; EVC 3.0° BTDC), .510 Intake Lift, .540 Exhaust Lift, 211° Intake duration, 230° exhaust duration, and am overlap of 112°. http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/3310/cam19dq.jpg All thats left is to design the cam gear that turns the diff and the cam is complete. I'll probably be machining these parts at school as soon as I can figure out the CNC programs. Thanks for looking, love to here some feedback. |
