Paddle Shifter: "Danger Will Robinson!"
http://homepage.mac.com/streetfytr/..../dustboots.jpg
Here's a photo of a paddle shifter we built for a sand rail. It's a 900lb mini rail powered by a 300HP twin turbo Hayabusa drivetrain. Not shown in the picture are the beefed up center boss and quick release mechanism. Boots were added and all electronics were sealed to provide dust and dirt resistence. The paddle shifter will run the 'busa sequential transmission by way of a Pingel bi-directional electric shifter. This is our first application of the Shrifter in a sequential manual application. Kinda reminds me of the Lost in Space robot http://www.vaiden.net/robot.jpg |
steve , looks like a hit  .

That's absolutely killer. Very typical of Steve - out of the box thinking - forward thinking - just thinking! Nice stuff Steve, would love to see it actually bolted into the buggy!

Must have video of said twin turbo Busa sand rail. :D

Thanks guys. I'll work on pix and video. It'll be a coupla months though. There's a good amount of development work on the transmission side to be done. Obviously there are implications of sequential transmission use for pro-touring. But don't hold your breath. It won't happen anytime soon. Lots of work to do before its marketable.
Here's pix of the sandrail. http://homepage.mac.com/streetfytr/....g/minirail.JPG |
