headers for mustang

Got several posts going on other sites, thought I'd also try here. Need long tube 1 3/4 primaries for my 1967 fastback I'm putting together. Tried most of the popular name brands but all I can find is 1 5/8 for my car. The motor is a 418 windsor that has brodix heads with richmond 6 spd. Got the motor on a stand getting ready to run but need headers. Any help would be great

I have a set of Hooker SuperComps longtubes that are 1.75" primaries on my stroked Windsor in a 65 Mustang. Did you look them up? The only drawback is that the collectors hang too low and really hurt driveability on the street, but then again, my car is lowered almost 3 inches. I am taking them off and selling them.

You can also try www.fordpowertrain.com , ask for Stan. They have the closest to custom made you can find.

Here is another one highly recommended. They have what you are looking for.
http://www.accufabracing.com/exhaust.htm and ask for George.

Did you look at Kooks? I know they make some nice 2 inch headers. They are kinda pricey but very nice.

The only 1.75 headers I have found that would fit are unlimited motorsports, and hooker. I was told that the hookers do hang a little low for a street car. Checked w/ dynatech, hedman, accufab, jba, dynamax, and kooks. It seems when you go from 1 5/8 to 1 3/4 your real limited. Plan on ordering from unlimited if knowone suggests otherwise. I am just a little hesitant on buying from a smaller header manufacturer.

I know Ford Powertrain has them. Don't be hesistant to buy from them, I have purchased two sets and the fit and finish is first rate.

headers

That is funny, have been playing phone tag with them today. The guy sounded very proffesional when leaving me a message. He claimed that they have great ground clearance. Can you vouch for that? Also, if you got them coated, how was the finish? Thanks alot.

From experience with early Mustangs, I recently chose them for my 70 Boss 302 for three reasons:
1. Quality fit
2. Quality materials
3. GROUND CLEARANCE

They exceeded the Hooker Supercomps I had ordered and installed for my Boss. The SuperComps were cheaper but still good quality and excellent fit, but the ground clearance made the car impossible to drive (lowered). I measured it from the ground and the car had almost 1.5" of ground clearance. Now I have 3.25 inches. They tuck up very nicely and as close as you can get.

Your results also depend on which engine you have.
Pose your clearance question to Stan. He is very knowledgeable and will let you know what to expect.
